Pioneer Village

A follow up discussion about out class trip to Fanshawe Pioneer Village had some of these remarks:

- everything pioneers did took a lot longer than they would now (BR)
- ZW thinks that there are some things that are still a little bit similar to today. ZW likes to make ornaments for the tree too.
-RT thought that Christmas trees of today are very different. We don't put cookies, candles, berries, and walnuts on our tree.
-pioneers had to do a lot of hard work in the spring and summer so that they were prepared for the winter months (HLA)
-technology has changed the way things happen. For example, at school there was no smartboard. They had to use ink and quills (JC)
-I don't think that I would like to be a kid in the olden days (AJ)
-It could take up to 3 hours to make a candle that would only burn for one hour - a lot of hard work for a little time (JH)
-we still have some of the same items as pioneers did, but ours are better (for example their beds did not look very comfortable, the newspaper would take a long, long time to make, because they had to use a press) (AT)
